An invisible season for Leverkusen continued when they defeated London outfit, Westham in an Europa League quarter final first leg tie.
A mostly one sided affair for a game saw Leverkusen dominate most of the ball and get all the chances against an almost impenetrable low block sitting West Ham side, which resorted majorly to counter attacks.
It wasn’t until the second half, West Ham’s resistance was finally broken when substitute, Hoffman’s left footed volley found the back of the net after a series of chaos from an initial corner.
Almost immediately, substitutes combined for Leverkusen again, this time Hoffman turning provider, when his cross from the left was headed in by Nigerian striker, Victor Boniface to give his side a 2 goal lead.
The win gives Leverkusen a much needed advantage for the second leg and also extends their wonderful unbeaten record by 42 games for the season.
