The most recent Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawan has lost his mother.

Following news reports, the 9th Senate President’s mother, Hajiya Halima Ibrahim, passed away Saturday night in Gashua, Yobe State at the age of 86.

As stated by Ahmed Lawan’s media adviser, Dr. Ezrel Tabiowo, she will be buried in Gashua on Sunday according to Islamic customs.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, expressed his condolences to Ahmed Lawan on the passing of his mother.

Tajudeen in describing Ibrahim in a statement on Sunday, said she was a successful mother, a worthy example of womanhood going by the substantial roles she played in her lifetime.

The speaker noted that losing one’s mother is terrible and agonising, particularly when her sage advice is greatly required.

While expressing sympathy with the immediate former Senate President who represents Yobe North Senatorial District, Tajudeen pointed out that Senator Lawan’s mother led a life that should be emulated, particularly by women.

In his prayer for her eternal rest, he urged Senator Lawan to find comfort in the fact that his mother lived a life of significance.
