Nigeria’s House of Representatives has called for the rehabilitation of the Nigeria Police Force and Nigerian security and Civil Defense Corps Stations in Darazo/Ganjuwa Federal Constituency, Bauchi State.

It also urged the Nigerian Police Trust Fund to rehabilitate and furnish the Soro Divisional Police station destroyed by the Boko Haram terrorist in 2013.

The resolution of the House was passed sequel to the adoption of a motion brought by
Mansur Manu Soro, (APC, Bauchi).

Soro noted that that the primary purpose of government was the protection of the lives and property of its citizens.

He said that “Darazo/Ganjuwa Federal Constituency, located in the Northeast is faced with the challenge of inadequate stations and office accommodation for Police and Civil Defence officers.

“The project for the construction of Sade Police Station, Darazo Local Government Area was abandoned by the Federal Government in 2017.”

The lawmaker also expressed grave concern over the non-conducive environment in which the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps operates in Darazo town.

“Security agents can only operate effectively in conducive office accommodation and stations,” he.

While debating the motion, Ifeanyi Momah, (PDP) said that the provision of police rehabilitation centres should also be done in Ihiala police stations in Anambra State.

He said; “This rehabilitation Centres should be included in the 2023 budget”

Adopting the motion, the lawmakers further urged the North-east Development Commission to, by their mandate of stabilising the region, expand the existing operational infrastructure of the Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Darazo/Ganjuwa Federal Constituency.

The House therefore mandated the Committees of Interior, Police Affairs and the North East Development Commission to interface with the affected Agencies of Government and report back within eight (8) weeks for further legislative action.
