Senator Seriake Dickson, the 2-term ex Governor of Bayelsa State has called for proper funding of the Police to enhance its operational efficiency.

He made the call on Friday at the Force Headquarters in Abuja while on a solidarity visit to the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Usman Baba and the entire police family on account of terrorism, unprovoked and coordinated attacks on Police, murder of innocent police officers and damage of security assets as well as other Government infrastructure.

The lawmaker unequivocally condemned the attacks and called for a cessation of all such criminal act.

Dickson asserted that ”the Police is not the problem of the nation and should not be seen as the enemy of the people.”

The Senator also congratulated the IGP on his appointment as the 21st indigenous Inspector General of Police.

Responding, the IGP, Usman Baba thanked Senator Dickson for his visit.

Baba assured him and Nigerians of the Police commitment to ”protecting lives and property in spite of the numerous challenges the Force is facing.”
