The Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Muhammad Matawalle, and the Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, have inspected a military jet and other facilities in preparation for a new military operation code-named ‘FANSAR YAMMA’.

The operation is aimed at crushing the North-West zone of banditry and other forms of criminalities.

The Minister and the Governor were at the Sultan Abubakar the lll International Airport, Sokoto, where they inspected the temporary facility provided to the military, pending the completion of the permanent one.

After the inspection, Governor Aliyu commended President Bola Tinubu for being proactive in addressing the security challenges affecting the state.

He said; “the deployment of the fighter jet to Sokoto under the new operation was a clear testimony that banditry in the North-West zone would soon be history.”

I’m optimistic that by the grace of the Almighty Allah, the days of bandits are numbered in Sokoto State and the North-West as a whole.

“What we need to do is to pray for Mr President and our gallant troops to succeed,” the Governor appealed.

Also speaking, the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Muhammad Matwalle, thanked the Governor for his sustained invaluable support and motivation to the military.

Matawalle said that “with the Governor’s unwavering commitment and dedication the military would soon succeed in the task of flushing the state out of banditry.”

He reassured the people of the state and the zone of the military’s determination and Nigerian government commitments to the protection of their lives and property.

In a statement by Governor Aliyu’s Press Secretary, Abubakar Bawa, the Minister solicited the support of the general public particularly on intelligence gathering for the operation ‘FANSAR YAMMA’ to be a success story.
