Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced that the Senate intends to lift Senator Abdul Ningi’s three-month suspension.
Akpabio mentioned this upon returning from the Inter-Parliamentary Union meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, stating that the Senate plans to reconsider Ningi’s suspension, imposed after his claim that the 2024 budget was padded with N3.7 trillion.
Ningi, through his counsel Femi Falana SAN, had requested his reinstatement to the Senate on Thursday.
Akpabio noted that although he hadn’t seen the letter, the issue would be addressed internally as a family matter.
He emphasized, “It is a parliamentary decision. I have not seen the letter yet. But Senator Ningi is one of us. I mean, what is suspension?”
