The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, has been called upon by the House of Representatives to provide the house with an update regarding the Federal Government’s conditional cash transfer program, which aims to benefit 15 million households.
In a motion of immediate public concern on Tuesday, the House expressed reservations about how the cash transfer program has been managed.
The House has raised issues concerning the lack of transparency in the program, which has allegedly given rise to fraudulent activities.
The minister is expected to furnish information on the process of collecting data and distributing the funds.
It is worth noting that President Bola Tinubu introduced the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer program for 15 million households.
In his inaugural Independence Day address to Nigerians in October, the President unveiled the cash transfer program, targeting vulnerable citizens.

Regarding the program, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs explained that the 15 million households encompass approximately 62 million Nigerians.
Betta Edu also specified that each beneficiary will receive a monthly transfer of N25,000 for three months, totaling N75,000 for each beneficiary.
