The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared the Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ahmad Aliyu the winner of the Governorship Election in Sokoto State.
Announcing the result, the State Returning Officer for Sokoto State, Professor Armiya’u Hamisu, said “Aliyu was declared the winner and returned elected having scored the highest votes of 45,3661.”
He is closely followed by the Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Malam Sai’du Umar, who scored 40,4632.
Aliyu won 19 out of the 23 Local Government Areas of the State while the PDP’s Umar won six LGAs in the March 18th polls.
Professor Hamisu is the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Dutse, Jigawa State.
