The Adamawa State Governor, Mr. Ahmadu Fintiri has extended his felicitations to Christians for this year’s Easter celebrations.

He said Easter symbolises God’s redemptive mission over humanity, the triumph of light over darkness, hope over despair and good over evil.

Governor Fintiri, therefore, called on residents of Adamawa State to use the opportunity that Easter provided to show love to one another and make sacrifices for the overall good of society.

As we celebrate the Easter in sober recollection of Christ’s crucifixion, let us think about how we can help to steer our State and Nation back on the road to peace, by working in the spirit of oneness,” Governor Fintiri said.

He commended the understanding they had exhibited to one another irrespective of their differences, saying this had ensured mutual love and peaceful co-existence in the State.

“Nonetheless, I implore you to shun acts that could undermine the hard-earned peace and development our administration has succeeded in providing over the last three years. I urge you to remain vigilant, abide by the Laws and demonstrate acts that point to moral rectitude,” Governor Fintiri said.

The Governor regretted that many would not be able to celebrate Easter with their families because they could not travel home as the nation currently grapples with gloom over unfortunate killings, kidnappings and violence.

He called for unity and resilience among Nigerians, saying “the harsh conditions of living today are a tough test for the Country, but like the previous tests, we will pull through. We have been tested many times before and we have always done what is necessary to pull through all difficulty and adversity, we have always found inspiration in ourselves and each other to find the sunshine after the storm.”

Governor Fintiri also advised the people not to allow the present circumstances to blind them to the spirit and intention of Easter and the message inherent in the resurrection power of Jesus Christ, noting that” it is through love and sacrifice that they could uphold Christ’s legacy of service to humanity.”

He said; “As we commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, let us also take time to emulate the virtues of love, sacrifice, forgiveness, humility, courage and endurance, which Christ embodied and remarkably demonstrated during His earthly ministry.”

Governor Fintiri called for prayers for peace and security to return to all parts of the country while urging Nigerians not to lose hope of a brighter and greater future for the country.

He gave the assurances that his administration would not relent in fulfilling his campaign promises, with the evidence in the restoration of peace and the massive developments across the State.

The Governor Fintiri said; “We are more than prepared to take governance to another level in Adamawa. We will continue to provide dedicated and honest leadership, where every citizen irrespective of religion or ethnic origin, feels secure to live, invest and prosper.”
