The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, has visited the Us-bound athletes representing Nigeria in the forth-coming Olympics challenging them to give their best.
Dare visited the athletes on Monday at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja where they have been training.
“Your job is to run and give this country the best,” the Minister told the Athletes.
“Focus on your training and the goal ahead and leave the administration to us. The world is waiting to see what you can do, you must meet their expectations,” he stated.
The Athletes are billed to travel on Thursday to participate in relay qualifiers.
“I have been monitoring your preparations and have met most of you personally. Whether you are home-based or foreign-based, Team Nigeria is one, hence we decided to take you to the US to join others so that you can blend as a team,” Dare told the athletes.
Some Athletes had also been adopted under the ‘Adopt an Athlete Initiative’, Grace Nwokocha and Adegoke Enoch were adopted by the minister.
Dare praised their performances including Tobi Amusan who got adopted few weeks back.
He also stressed the importance of providing good welfare for the athletes, giving the assurance that welfare would not be a problem for the athletes.
