Forbes 2012 list of World Billionaires

An American Business Magazine, the Forbes has released its 35th Annual list of the wealthiest billionaires in the world.

In total, Forbes says there are now 2,755 billionaires and this year’s billionaires are worth altogether $13.1 trillion, up from $8 trillion last year.

Amazon founder, Jeff Bezos topped the list for the fourth year consecutively.

This year’s list has a total of 493 newcomers, roughly one billionaire every 17 hour.

The richest newcomer, Mariam Adelson of Nevada is worth $38.2 billion.

According to the Magazine,”the United States has the most, about 724 billionaires, next is China with 698 billionaires (including 71 from Hong Kong and 1 from Macao), followed by India with 140 billionaires, then Germany with 136 billionaires and Russia the fifth highest billionaires with 117 billionaires.”

For the tenth year in a row, Aliko Dangote, is Africa’s richest person. The self made billionaire is 191 in the 2021 list. His net worth is $11.3 billion. He founded and chairs Dangote cement, the continent’s largest cement producer.

‘We used stock prices and exchange rates from March 5 to calculate net worths,” Forbes said.
